Parking on Home Football Weekends

The 2008 U-M football season will kick-off Saturday (August 30). Parking & Transportation Services and the Athletic Department again ask for your assistance as we work to provide parking for game attendees.

We request that ALL vehicles (personal and University) be parked at offsite locations away from the football stadium area each Friday by 11 pm prior to home football games. Any vehicles left in the lots after 11 pm will be subject to towing. There are seven home games this year:

Aug. 30Utah
Sept. 6Miami (OH)
Sept. 27Wisconsin
Oct. 4Illinois
Oct. 11Toledo
Oct. 25Michigan State
Nov. 15 Northwestern

Listed below are the lots to be vacated by all vehicles:

SC2Blue lot between Keech and Hoover
SC3Service Center at Admin Services Building
SC4Yellow lot on Kipke Drive
SC5Yellow lot on Kipke Drive
SC6Orange lot west of Kipke Drive
SC7Orange lot east of Kipke Drive

SC32Visitor lot on Greene St.
SC35Yellow lot between Keech and Hoover
SC37Blue lot on Hoover St. @ Revelli Hall
SC38Yellow lot on Division and Hill
SC41Orange lot on Hoover

* Please note: At SC11, it is especially important to remove U-M vehicles, because this is where staff park who must work on Saturdays. The boiler operators, computer support staff, on-call emergency maintenance staff and others will appreciate your compliance with this request, so they have a place to park when arriving for work.

In the event that a home hockey game is played on the Friday night before a football Saturday, the lots along Greene Street as well as SC7 will be available for parking, with the stipulation that all vehicles be vacated from the parking areas immediately after the hockey game.

On-call staff and staff with regular work schedules on Saturday will be accommodated on South Campus whenever possible. With as much advance notice as possible, please email the Parking & Transportations Services email address (umpark@umich.edu), with the names of those individuals working and the dates. Our football event coordinator will confirm their parking arrangements by return email. If we can be of assistance to help identify alternative parking locations for U-M vehicles, please feel free to contact Parking & Transportation Services at 647-3615.

Employees working on U-M's South Campus on Saturdays before, during or after home football games need to be aware that Keech Street at the north end of Michigan Stadium will be closed to all traffic, except emergency vehicles, two hours before kick-off until approximately 1 hour after the game ends. In addition, Greene Street south of Hoover Street will be one-way southbound until the game ends.

We have tried to identify everyone who should receive this email, but have undoubtedly missed someone, so we would appreciate your help by sharing this information with others.

We truly appreciate how supportive all of you have been. We realize vacating the needed lots is neither easy nor convenient. Please accept our sincere thanks.
