Introduction: Taking the Bus

You probably already know that public transportation is convenient and environmentally friendly. But did you know that, at U-M, it's also free?

In addition to U-M buses, faculty, staff (including temporary staff) and students may also ride the Ann Arbor Transportation (AATA) buses at no charge through the "MRide" program, just by presenting a valid yellow U-M identification card (Mcard) to the bus driver. U-M riders are asked to swipe their Mcards in the farebox on each bus in order to verify a current and valid Mcard. We suggest that you have your Mcard ready (out of its plastic badge holder) to swipe when you board the bus.

At that price, you can't afford not to take advantage of either or both of these bus services.

U-M Transit Services also provides bus charter service and other special transit services which are intended to be economical, efficient and environmentally-friendly.
